Dehumidifier Selection
Selecting an industrial dehumidifier is never just a single capacity figure. This episode covers eight criteria, from target relative humidity and dew point, moisture load and technology to reactivation energy, casing, automation and service, and a five-step decision process.

- Selection starts with the target RH and dew point; a condensing unit cannot go much below a +5 °C dew point and works best above +10 °C.
- Capacity is set by the moisture load, not the air change rate; seven moisture sources are calculated one by one, and a 20% margin is enough.
- For a dew point target above +10 °C in a 15–35 °C space, choose condensing; below +5 °C a desiccant rotor is needed, and in between the two are compared on energy.
- The reactivation source follows the site infrastructure: with a boiler, steam pays back in 6–10 months; 80–120 °C waste heat preheats the reactivation air, and natural gas also saves significantly over electricity.
- The casing follows the environment: galvanised steel, AISI 304 or 316L stainless, chlorine-resistant casings with coated coils for pools and ATEX for explosive atmospheres.
