What is the Industrial Dehumidification Calculator?

The industrial dehumidification calculator analyzes total moisture load in manufacturing facilities and storage areas. It separately calculates structural infiltration, fresh air, door openings, personnel and product/process moisture loads, and shows the one-off pulldown water needed to move from the current indoor condition to the target.

Infiltration and fresh-air loads are calculated from the absolute humidity difference between outdoor and target conditions: V × ACH × ρ × Δw and Q × ρ × Δw. Door opening load is based on opening area, air velocity, frequency and duration (A × v × t × ρ × Δw). Personnel moisture load is determined by headcount and activity level (40–300 g/h/person). Product/process moisture loads are user-defined.

The result gives the total moisture load in kg/h. The tool does not recommend a unit: in industrial applications unit selection is a design task that considers air flow, duct/hose pressure losses, operating temperature, power supply and site conditions together. As a general frame, silica gel rotor (adsorption) units come forward for low dew point targets (roughly below +5 °C) or cold spaces, while condensing (mechanical) units suit higher dew points.

Absolute humidity and dew point are calculated at the site pressure of the selected city/altitude. The calculated load excludes any safety margin; when you contact us with the PDF report, our engineering team selects the unit for your project conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the industrial dehumidification calculator compute?
It calculates total moisture load in manufacturing or storage facilities: structural infiltration (V × ACH × ρ × Δw), fresh air, door openings, personnel and product/process moisture loads are listed separately; the one-off pulldown water from the current condition to the target is shown as well.
What is the difference between condensing and desiccant dehumidification?
Condensing units cool air to condense moisture (effective above +10°C). Desiccant units adsorb moisture with silica gel rotor and can reach −60°C dew point.
Why is a safety factor applied?
A 15–25 % (in practice 20 %) safety margin is usually added at unit selection for unaccountable losses, seasonal variations and extraordinary conditions. The tool reports the moisture load only, without a safety margin; the margin is applied during unit selection. Margins above 50 % mean oversizing and short cycling.
Which sectors require low dew points?
Lithium battery manufacturing (−40°C), pharmaceutical production (−20°C), weapon/ammunition storage, and certain chemical processes require low dew points.
Why does the tool not recommend a unit?
In industrial dehumidification the right unit is not determined by capacity alone; air flow, duct or hose pressure losses, external static pressure, operating temperature, power supply and site conditions must be evaluated together. The tool therefore calculates and reports the moisture load, and unit selection is made project-specifically by the NKT – Nem Kontrol Teknolojileri engineering team based on the PDF report.

Calculations represent approximate values. Detailed analysis is required for final engineering designs.
