In wind energy facilities and turbine manufacturing workshops, humidity control is critically important for component quality and production continuity. All processes including blade manufacturing, generator assembly, and power electronics production must be conducted within specific humidity ranges. The use of an industrial humidifier directly increases the reliability of these processes.
Composite blade manufacturing uses epoxy resins with glass or carbon fiber materials. The curing quality of these materials is directly dependent on ambient humidity, and under uncontrolled humidity conditions, porosity increases and adhesion strength decreases. High humidity in generator windings reduces insulation resistance and increases electrical losses. In power electronics boards, low humidity elevates ESD risk, threatening inverter and converter reliability. Uncontrolled humidity in assembly hangars accelerates metal corrosion, shortening turbine lifespan.
In manufacturing facilities equipped with an industrial humidifier, blade workshops generally target 45 to 60 percent relative humidity, power electronics assembly targets 40 to 55 percent, and generator assembly areas target 45 to 55 percent. Maintaining these values consistently directly improves production quality.
Wind turbine blade workshops are typically very large open structures that require high-capacity steam or atomization systems with distribution manifolds to achieve homogeneous humidity distribution. These systems, working in conjunction with humidity sensors positioned near blade mold areas, provide zonal control. For power electronics assembly areas, tight-tolerance precision control loops combined with ESD prevention measures are recommended for an integrated system design.
With proper humidity management, epoxy curing quality improves, generator winding insulation resistance is preserved, ESD risks are eliminated, and corrosion in metal components is minimized. IEC 61400 standard compliance also becomes documentable. All of these advantages extend turbine lifespan and reduce maintenance costs.
When selecting an industrial humidifier in the wind energy sector, workshop volume, production process requirements, and seasonal conditions must be evaluated together.
