Injection Molding Process

Plastic Injection Applications

Cycle time is one of the primary factors that increase production efficiency in plastic injection applications.

Within the cycle time, the cooling time of hot plastic injected as melt into injection molds constitutes approximately 50-70% of the total cycle time.

During cooling, the cold water circulating through the cooling channels of the injection mold causes cooling on the mold surface. When the mold surface temperature falls below the ambient dew point temperature, condensation occurs on the surface, causing the mold to sweat.

When cooling water temperatures are raised to prevent sweating, the cycle time extends and production efficiency decreases accordingly. Rust and deformations occur on the surface due to condensation on the cold surface of the mold.

By using industrial dehumidifiers, the mold area is filled with air having a low dew point.
