AD Series Troubleshooting

We go through the most common fault symptoms on an AD series silica gel rotor dehumidifier and the first checks to make before calling service: unit will not start, has stopped, stopped in automatic or remote mode, lost capacity, tripped fuses, white service light, rotor not turning and low airflow. For any alarm not covered here, call the authorised service.

  • Faults are signalled by the red light on the front panel and the cause appears on the alarm page of the display. For any alarm not listed, call the authorised service.
  • If the unit will not start, check the control fuses, the external start signal, the front door micro-switch, the main fuses and the phase sequence.
  • A unit stopped in automatic mode is often not faulty; humidity has fallen below the set point. In remote mode, check the external start contact.
  • If capacity has dropped, check the filters, airflows and dampers, the rotor belt, air leaks past the seals and the regeneration heater (on steam units the valve, pressure and condensate trap).
  • If the rotor is not turning, the belt is the usual cause: check a slipping belt's tension and replace a broken one. Fan, gear motor and heater alarms are reset by hand on the display once the cause is fixed.

Installing an AD Series Dehumidifier

The AD series are silica gel rotor industrial dehumidifiers that run continuously in production areas and warehouses where low humidity is needed. In this episode we cover safety, handling, delivery, positioning, service clearances, duct connections and the electrical supply for models AD1000 to AD6500, based on the manufacturer's manual.

Commissioning the AD Series

How well an AD series silica gel rotor dehumidifier performs on site depends on the checks made at first start-up and on correctly set airflows. In this episode we cover the pre-checks, phase sequence, operating modes, setting the process and regeneration airflows, steam and hot water coils, humidity control and the performance check, based on the manufacturer's manual.

AD Series Periodic Maintenance

AD series silica gel rotor dehumidifiers depend on regular maintenance to run efficiently. In this episode we cover filter checks, the white service light, the rotor, belt, seals, motors and heater, and the manufacturer's 6, 12 and 36-month maintenance schedule, based on the manufacturer's manual.

Setting Up a Portable Dehumidifier

A wheeled refrigerant dehumidifier works in warehouses, factories and on building sites, and where it stands matters as much as its capacity. In this episode we cover taking delivery of a heavy-duty industrial portable dehumidifier, positioning it in a warehouse, condensate options, the electrical connection and first start-up, based on the manufacturer's manual.

Maintaining a Portable Dehumidifier

Maintaining a wheeled refrigerant dehumidifier is simple, but if it is skipped, capacity drops and the unit is put under strain. In this episode we cover how often and how to clean the filter, condenser cleaning, what the four control panel lights mean, the defrost cycle, and what to check when the unit does not start or collects no water, based on the manufacturer's manual.

Maintaining a Pool Dehumidifier

A pool dehumidifier runs almost all year in warm, humid, chlorinated air; when maintenance slips, capacity drops first, then humidity rises and condensation appears on the walls. This episode covers what to do, and how often, for a wall-mounted pool dehumidifier: safety, monthly filter cleaning, removing the cover, daily use, the annual service checklist, shock chlorination, summer shutdown and the symptoms that need a service visit.
