Maintaining a Pool Dehumidifier
A pool dehumidifier runs almost all year in warm, humid, chlorinated air; when maintenance slips, capacity drops first, then humidity rises and condensation appears on the walls. This episode covers what to do, and how often, for a wall-mounted pool dehumidifier: safety, monthly filter cleaning, removing the cover, daily use, the annual service checklist, shock chlorination, summer shutdown and the symptoms that need a service visit.

- Before any work, unplug the unit and switch off its breaker; never wash it with water or use aggressive cleaning agents.
- If the unit has an air filter, clean it at least once a month; a clogged filter reduces the airflow the unit draws in.
- Never block the intake or outlet with towels, buckets or equipment, place nothing on top of the unit and keep heaters away from it.
- At least once a year a specialist checks the casing, intake and outlet, filter, any hot water coil, the drain line and the electrical connection.
- During shock chlorination chlorine can reach 24 ppm while the unit withstands 3 ppm, so it is switched off and covered. During a summer shutdown, run it briefly at least once a month.
