Selecting an industrial dehumidifier starts with an accurate moisture load calculation. This episode walks through the seven moisture sources, a worked infiltration example and how the target dew point drives the choice of technology.

In this video
- Relative humidity changes with temperature, so moisture load calculations are carried out with the humidity ratio (g/kg dry air).
- The moisture load of a space comes from seven independent sources: infiltration, planned ventilation, water evaporation, occupants, building diffusion, hygroscopic materials and combustion.
- In the worked example, a 600 m³ production area with 0.25 air changes per hour and a 4.4 g/kg humidity ratio difference gives an infiltration load of 792 g/h.
- A safety factor of 15–25% is added to the total; margins above 50% lead to oversizing and short cycling.
- Refrigerant dehumidifiers work efficiently above a +10 °C dew point but cannot go much below +5 °C; lower targets require silica gel rotor systems, down to a −60 °C dew point.
